My copywriting experience:

I have a Digital Marketing Certificate which I achieved last year with a 92% pass mark and I’ve just completed a copywriting course with The Blackford Centre.  I’ve worked on  many copywriting projects (please visit my portfolio) and my clients include  Donna Coulling, NDC Global Auditors and the Roald Dahl Society.  I’ve written website copy for the BAFTA nominated composers Barnabas & Arnold which you can view on their homepage. For me, life is about learning new skills and encountering fresh challenges. That’s why I know that I can produce copy that’s right for you!

Published writing:

I write regular articles, book and product reviews for Practical Preschool, Primary Teacher Update, Creative Steps and Teachit Primary (I’m also on the editorial board of Primary Teacher Update). In addition I’ve completed projects as a proofreader, freelance editor and resource writer for Macmillan ELT.  I am a qualified primary school teacher, ESL teacher and adult education tutor and I currently tutor creative writing and GCSE English on Saturday mornings.  For me, copywriting and teaching are closely linked.  Copywriting, like teaching, involves learning.   It’s about researching new topics and then communicating what I’ve discovered to others.  There’s nothing more enjoyable than the challenge of making a subject interesting and accessible to a particular audience.

A bit of background:

As far as I can remember, my path as a writer began one rainy day in a Welsh holiday cottage back in 1980-something.  Sitting in a gloomy living room with a Peter Rabbit exercise book and a collection of scented rubbers and fluffy pencil-toppers I wrote the stories of Reggie Rabbit.  More stories followed about fairies, witches, wizards etc, and so the spell was cast.  Fast forward past student days at Leeds University to the late 1990s when I wrote features for The Lady and the children’s magazine Aquila as well as articles for company magazines and fillers for the Cambridge News.
